Camarillo Public Library Chinese New Year Celebration February 13, 2016

Camarillo Public Library in Camarillo will be hosting the 7th annual Chinese New Year Celebration on Saturday February 13, 2016. This event is free for all and will take place outside of the library. This annual event is Ventura County’s largest Chinese New Year gathering. Back by popular demand will be some of Los Angeles and Ventura County’s finest gourmet Asian themed and kid friendly food trucks who will be serving their delicious, ethnic, sweet and american street food for this special occasion.

Steamy Bun TruckBelly Bombz, The Greasy Wiener and Kona Ice will be serving by the staff parking lot closest to the performance stage from 12pm-4pm. Come out and celebrate the “Year of the Monkey”, there will be live entertainment including: Chinese Lion Dancing, Chinese Folk Dances, Chinese Acrobats, Chinese Ensemble Music, Crafts and demonstrations and much more!

You’re encouraged to bring your lawn chair (and picnic blankets, we’re expected to have great weather in the high 70’s!) sit back and enjoy the program and some great food! This is a great event for the entire family! The Chinese New Year event is co-sponsored by the Ventura County Chinese American Association.

Short Avenue Elementary Food Truck Fiesta and Winter Jazz January 20, 2016

Short Avenue Elementary in Marina Del Rey will be hosting another a free winter jazz concert on the lawn featuring members of the Del Rey Community Jazz Band at the upcoming food truck fiesta community event on Wednesday January 20, 2016. The Food Truck Fiesta features some of Los Angeles’ finest food trucks each month to help raise funds for the various activities of the Friends of Short Avenue non-profit group.

We’re a month into  winter so it’s recommended you bring jackets, as well as flashlights and lanterns. Joining us to serve warm, tasty and eclectic street food will be the following gourmet food trucks: Mapcuhe Native, Street Kitchen and Sweet E’s BakeShop.  There will be a variety of unique and delicious food to choose from including: empanadas, lomito and milanesa sandwiches, tacos, kobe beef sliders and grilled cheese sandwiches. Save room for dessert- cupcakes, cookies, brownies and more!

Find the trucks out by the front lawn, be sure to bring your blankets and lawn chairs to dine al fresco with your best classmates, neighbors and community. All are welcome to attend, eat and have a blast and even if you can’t stick around then take your meal to go, a portion of the food truck sales benefit a great cause! This event is free for all to attend!
